Holland Over Uruguay World Cup Betting Free Picks

Just four teams remain in the quest for soccer's most illustrious prize, and on Tuesday at Green Point Stadium, Uruguay will battle it out with the Netherlands in World Cup betting action.

The Uruguayans got a bit of a gift to reach this point in the tournament, as they needed a penalty shootout to dispose of the final African side in this field, Ghana.

Holland progressed in unconventional fashion as well, coming from a 1-0 deficit at halftime to defeat the favorites to win this tournament, Brazil 2-1 in regulation.

Uruguay can thank the hands of F Luis Suarez for the fact that it is still in the World Cup. Suarez used both of his hands to bat a should-have-been goal in the 120th minute for Ghana that would've made the Black Stars the first African team ever to advance to the semifinals. As a result, one of the two best attacking options on the South American side has been suspended for this match with Holland.

F Diego Forlan won Man of the Match honors against Ghana, though, and for good reason. Forlan scored the equalizing goal in the second half off of a beautifully struck free kick from just outside of the area. He also stepped up and nailed the first penalty in the shootout, setting the tone for a do-or-die situation which his team would never trail in.

For Holland, the second 45 minutes against Brazil was arguably the most important in team history. The offense suddenly woke up after a woeful first period, and F Wesley Sneijder is to thank it all. It was his cross in the 53rd minute to erase the first goal of the match by Robinho. The goal was originally ruled an own goal, as it deflected off of a Brazilian defender, but was properly changed to Sneijder's strike.

The Dutch attacker wasn't done there, though. There was certainly no doubt that he scored by himself in the 68th minute off of a header. From there, La Oranje held on tight for the victory that helped erase the memories of knockout round defeats of past to the top South American sides in the world.

World Cup Insider Tip: Neither one of these teams has played in the World Cup Final since Holland reached that level in 1978. Uruguay was last in the finale in 1950.

Uruguay has no business even being in this match, and we tend to think that it is going to get what is coming to it after the ridiculousness that was the end of that match with Ghana.

In terms of on the pitch, Holland has far more attacking options, especially without Suarez playing for the Uruguayans, and we are convinced that the end result is going to be a Dutch victory in 90 minutes.
