Some of the luster will be worn off of the Red River Rivalry this week as the Texas Longhorns could not hold up their end of the bargain – at least in the pre-game, so to speak. This week’s matchup could have easily been an important Top 10 matchup but instead, after the Longhorns suffered their worst home loss in the Mack Brown era to UCLA last week, this game has less BCS Championship meaning. Nonetheless, it is one of the most heated college football rivalries and NCAA football betting fans will be jacked up to watch.

Even though the Longhorns have dropped into the 20’s in the rankings, this is still going to be an intriguing matchup. On a neutral site, anything can happen.
Bettors have been hammering the Sooners so far this week and it’s hard to disagree. The Sooners are seem to be a little bit ahead in their development than the Longhorns. Landry Jones is a better quarterback than Garrett Gilbert, and the Sooners have two big-time weapons on offense in running back DeMarco Murray and wide receiver Ryan Broyles; the Longhorns simply don’t have those type of proven weapons yet.
On defense, the edge would normally go to Texas but there has to be some concerns after how poorly they played against UCLA last week. The Bruins were considered to have a pathetic offense yet they ran all over the Longhorns last week. Without a doubt, expect Texas to bounce back and put forth a better effort, but NCAA football betting handicappers should see the Sooners pull this one as they have more weapons to work with.
