How nostalgic are you feeling this week? If you'd like to remember fondly the golf betting days of old, you might want to look at Tiger Woods' lucrative line to win the WGC Bridgestone Invitational.
Woods, finally returning from injury, is set back at 18/1 odds at the Bodog Sportsbook to get the victory at the Firestone South Course in Akron, Ohio this week. Back when Woods was dominating this event that kind of golf betting line would have been unthinkable for him.
Since 1999 Woods has won this tournament seven times, including back-to-back-to-back winning performances from 1999-2001 and 2005-2007, and another victory in 2009. That was before Tiger's troubles though; he finished 78th there last year.
And that means Woods is no longer the favorite for this tournament – that honor belongs to Rory McIlroy, who sits at 12/1 odds to take the WGC event.
Luke Donald, Lee Westwood, and Steve Stricker are next at 16/1 odds at the Bodog Sportsbook to come out on top at Firestone on Sunday, with Phil Mickelson and Dustin Johnson at 20/1 odds, Nick Watney at 22/1, and both Martin Kaymer and Matt Kuchar at 25/1.
Charl Schwartzel and Hunter Mahan are pegged at 30/1 on the golf odds for this tournament, but Mahan might get some extra attention because he's the defending champion.
Mahan beat Ryan Palmer by two strokes at this tournament last year, thanks to the 6-under 64 that he shot in the final round. Retief Goosen (50/1) and Bo Van Pelt (50/1) tied for third place last year, and Sean O'Hair (66/1) was alone in fifth place.
