Other than Blackhawks fans, not many bettors and hockey lovers are satisfied with the NHL Stanley Cup final so far. Chicago’s 6-5 victory in Game 1 had plenty of offense but also plenty of shoddy goaltending and blown defensive assignments.
Clearly, the coaches gave their teams an earful entering Game 2 – which turned out to be a stuffy, scrappy affair. Amidst a plethora of blown calls and chippy play, Marian Hossa put Chicago Blackhawks on the board in the second period during a scramble. Ben Eager followed that up less than 30 seconds later with a softy past Michael Leighton.
Simon Gagne brought the Philadelphia Flyers to within a goal but Chicago held on for the 2-1 win and the 2-0 series lead. The Hawks will try to win for the 11th time in their last 12 playoff games when they put their postseason odds to the test on Wednesday night.
