NFL Week 14 Betting Odds: Philadelphia Eagles at Miami Dolphins

A little over month or so ago, the Philadelphia Eagles were still considered arguably the most dangerous team in the NFC outside of Green Bay and the Miami Dolphins were in the Andrew Luck sweepstakes. Now? The Eagles are actually underdogs in Miami.
A popular Super Bowl preseason pick, Philadelphia is one defeat away from guaranteeing only its second losing record since 2000. Though the Eagles have dropped four of five since winning two straight to conclude October, they still have a slim shot to win the mediocre NFC East. Quarterback Michael Vick will be back leading the charge after missing the last three games with two broken ribs.
The Eagles lost two out of those three as Vince Young took over and saw Philadelphia’s playoff hopes disappear. Ball control will be a priority. Philadelphia has turned the ball over an NFL-high 29 times. Vick threw 11 INTs in his first nine starts.
Since starting 0-7, the Dolphins have outscored their opponents 139-54 while winning four of five. Their last four wins have come by an average of 21.5 points and they’ve forced seven turnovers during the last four contests overall.
Led by Reggie Bush’s 100-yard day, Miami rushed for 209 yards in a 34-14 win over the Raiders last week. Philadelphia’s defense looked inept against the run during Marshawn Lynch’s 148-yard, two-TD performance for the Seahawks last week.
The strength of the Eagles’ offense is the ground attack, but Miami is stingy defending the run. With Vick back in the lineup, Philadelphia should try and control the tempo on the road with LeSean McCoy and designed runs for their athletic quarterback. Eagles coach Andy Reid will be creative by using spread formations to move a linebacker out in coverage in order to establish an effective ground attack.
