NFL Betting: Steelers To Lose OT Colon For 2010?

According to reports, the Pittsburgh Steelers could lose starting right tackle Willie Colon for the entire NFL 2010 season.
Citing a league source, ESPN reports that Colon has suffered an Achilles’ tendon tear and while he had an MRI today, he will also undergo more testing to confirm the injury on Tuesday.
An NFL.com report says that he will more than likely underdgo season-ending surgery on Wednesday and suffered the injury at a workout today — he was seen leaving the Steelers’ practice facility on crutches.
Achilles’ tendon injuries are known to take somewhere in the neighbourhood of five to six months to heal and according to the NFL.com report, Colon is expected to be put on season-ending IR.
Colon’s agent Joe Linta confirmed to ESPN that it looked like an injury to Colon’s Achilles.
“We want to wait to confirm it, but that’s kind of our worst fears,” he is quoted as saying.
It hasn’t been the best of offseasons for the Pittsburgh Steelers’ offense.
First QB Ben Roethlisberger was suspended for six games for violating the league’s conduct policy and then WR Santonio Holmes was suspended for four games for violating the NFL’s substance policy and traded to the New York Jets for next to nothing.
A long-time favorite in NFL division futures betting, the Steelers have slipped somewhat, currently listed at +200 to take the AFC North division — the division rival Baltimore Ravens are now the odds-on faves at +100.
The Steelers are also currently listed at +800 to win the AFC championship and +2000 to take the 2011 Super Bowl by SportsBetting.com.
The Pittsburgh Steelers open Week 1 of the regular season against the Atlanta Falcons at Heinz Field and the game is currently listed as a Pick’em.
The Steelers are 10-3 straight up in their last 13 home games during the month of September and they are also 5-0 SU in their last five such games.
