MLB Matchup Odds: Washington Nationals at Arizona Diamondbacks - Zach Duke

Zach Duke looked good in his season debut for the Arizona Diamondbacks last time out; he'll try to duplicate that performance when he heads to the hill at home on Thursday night in an MLB betting matchup against the Washington Nationals.

Lefthander Duke made his first appearance for Arizona against the Astros on Saturday  and tossed a gem: Three hits and four strikeouts over seven shutout innings in a victory.

That effort, though, is not indicative of how poorly Duke pitched for the Pirates last season. In 2010 Duke posted an ugly 5.72 ERA over 29 starts with Pittsburgh, going 8-15 and giving up 212 hits in just 159 innings of work.

Arizona supporters would be wise to take a wait-and-see approach on Duke.

Jordan Zimmermann is slated to get the ball for the Nationals on Thursday night, and he'll be hoping to get a little support from his offense to end a personal two-game losing streak.

Zimmermann (2-6, 3.88 ERA) is coming off back-to-back losses to the Orioles and Padres, but the righthander can hardly be blamed for those defeats as he surrendered just four combined runs on nine hits over those 12 1-3 innings of work.

In fact, Zimmermann has given up three or fewer earned runs in eight of his 10 starts so far this season, but Washington has managed to win only three of his outings.

And that's the kind of thing that has the Nationals near the bottom of the NL futures odds lists at Bodog Sportsbook once again this season. Washington is well back at 100/1 odds to win the NL Pennant, and at 200/1 odds to win the World Series.

As for the D-Backs, their recent surge up the standings has them at 16/1 odds to win the NL Pennant at Bodog Sportsbook, and at 35/1 odds to claim the World Series.
