Maria Sharapova - 2011 US Open Tennis Betting Odds: Friday’s Top Matches

Supporters of Maria Sharapova got paid on the tennis betting lines at the Bodog Sportsbook on Wednesday, as the Russian beat countrymate Anastasiya Yakimova in second-round action at the US Open.

Admirers of Sharapova, however, probably felt a bit short-changed at the match, as she dominated Yakimova in a quick 6-1, 6-1 decision to move into the tournament's third round.

Sharapova faced a little more adversity in the first round, where she needed three sets to knock out Heather Watson of Great Britain (3-6, 7-5, 6-3), and she's expected to get a challenge again on Friday as she takes on third-round opponent Flavia Pennetta of Italy.

At the Bodog Sportsbook Sharapova is listed as the -750 favorite for Friday against No. 28 Pennetta, with the Italian the +450 underdog on the tennis odds. Pennetta beat Aravane Rezai of France in the first round and Romina Oprandi of Italy in the second round.

As of Thursday Sharapova sat at 9/2 on the futures board to win the U.S. Open, while Pennetta was back at 150/1 odds.

On the men's side of the tournament a match to watch on Friday has American James Blake taking on David Ferrer of Spain. Blake survived his first-round meeting with Jesse Huta Galung of the Netherlands, winning 6-4, 6-2, 4-6, 6-4 in four sets.

Ferrer, the No. 5 seed at the tournament, got a scare in the first round against Russian Igor Andreev, dropping the first set 2-6 before rattling off 6-3, 6-0, 6-4 wins to take the match.

Ferrer sits as the -310 favorite on the tennis odds at the Bodog Sportsbook for this second-round matchup on Friday, with Blake the +225 underdog. On the futures board Ferrer is at 150/1 to win the US Open men's draw, while Blake is back at 300/1 odds.
